Surgical Diathermy: Currently two brands are available with a total of fifteen different models. Surgical diathermy units under brand name 'Spark' are based on conventional electronic components and are having long life & ruggedness with repeat performance capability. Surgical diathermy units under brand name 'ARC' are high tech products where state of the art digital ICs and MOSFETs are used. These are light weight equipment and produce precise surgical effects for demanding surgical applications. ARC brand is quite popular with laparoscopic surgeons, urologists and neuro-surgeons. Model with programming facility is also available. Recent introduction includes Vessel Sealer diathermy unit also.
Yet another new range is Radio Frequency surgical diathermy, RF ARC which finds application in cosmetic, neuro and gynae surgeries. The average life for both brands of diathermy units is 15 years as reported by leading surgeons.
Surgical Pumps: The Pumps range can be broadly classified into four categories namely Slow Suction pumps, Suction cum irrigation pumps, sensor controlled pumps and heavy duty piston vacuum pumps. The Slow Suction pumps find use in post-operative ICUs of Gynae/ labor/cardiac surgery /pediatric surgery depths where these pumps are kept running for 48 to 72 hrs. These are silent pumps and can hence be kept by the bedside of patients. The Suction cum irrigation pumps are used in laparoscopic surgeries related to Gynae & gastro surgery departments. The sensor controlled pumps find application in diagnostic as well as operative procedures in Gynaecology (Hysteroscopy), Orthopaedics (Arthroscopy/ shoulder surgery) and Urology (Uretero-renoscopy). The heavy duty oil less piston vacuum pumps is used for Liposuction surgery. These also find use as a reliable source of vacuum for the main OT and the casualty department where fast removal of blood, clots, mucous etc is frequently required.
Cold Light Units: Two models are available, one with a 150 watts halogen bulb suitable for routine endoscopic use and another with 250 watts halogen suitable for end camera use.
Co2 Insufflator: Electronic Co2 insufflator has a flow rate of 30 liters/min with preheated gas and digital display with controls for pressure and flow rate. Also gas temperature, cylinder pressure, volume consumed etc are displayed. This thermoflator has a microcontroller based flow regulator which saves gas during surgeries.
M/s. Derungs, Switzerland: Minor OT lights, surgical spot lights, pedestal mount/wall mount/table mount spot lights. These are very compact, highly positionable lamp units producing a light output of upto 54,000 Lux at 4000 °K from a single 50 watts halogen bulb. Field temperature rise is only 4° C to 5 °C. Twin dome configurations are also available. These can be used as add on lights in main OT also.
M/s. ACEM SpA, Bologna, Italy: Shadowless LED OT lights which are having a life of 50,000 hrs. Single head, twin head, models with camera system etc are available. Light intensity from 50,000 lux to 1,60,000 Lux per lamp head available at color temperature of 4900 K. Automatic switching of LEDs during surgery through 'brightness adapter' gives shadow control and full brightness at surgical site. Control parameters like intensity, depth of field, focusing, light for endoscopy etc can easily be preprogrammed through "I sense" system on the lamp dome. Multiple small domes instead of a single big dome offers least resistance to air flow for OTs where laminar flow systems are intended/ are in use.
